StreetWorks is a report that serves a testimony of urbanists’ fascination for the street; a showcase of characteristics and diversity that all together prove that the street tells you where you are. And that we architects and planners, we all continuously contribute to the making of these streets. The drawings in this report are taken from library and memory, supplemented by students’ drawings for the Street works design project. The selection shows a highly undressed essentiality in black and white. In spite of the reduction, the diversity expressed in the different drawings is gigantic. It is worth a study alone to understand how conditions of time and place determine the ‘language’ chosen by the architect. For now, it is the universal and simple act of drawing itself that interests me in making this booklet. As opening the door of another world, with the intention to illustrate the richness and relevance of reduction. For a better applicability the drawings are divided into three categories where subsequently they should speak for themselves.
